A great plant for preventing soil erosion and covering sloped surfaces in vivid green. The Bar Harbor Juniper is similar to the Creeping Blue Chip, but has leaves of a brighter green. Junipers in general are very useful in the garden for their solid colours and for their ability to grow in highly difficult conditions. As its name suggests, the Horizontalis Bar Harbor grows outwards and is an excellent choice as a ground cover. The Bar Harbor Juniper is faster growing than its cousin the Creeping Blue Chip and can reach a greater size at maturity (both sideways and vertically). All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. Conifers get their name from the "cones" that they produce – which come in all shapes and sizes. Conifer leaves are evergreen and will either be needle-shaped or scale-like.
