Wisteria - Climbing
Wisteria Sinensis, Chinese Wisteria, is a much-loved beautiful climber from the Far East renowned for amazing beautiful cascades of gloriously scented racemes of lavender or white flowers in spring and early summer arising from bare stems as leaves do not appear until blossoming is over. Flowering is followed by pale green divided leaves which turn yellow in the autumn.
Wisteria sinensis is a vigorous deciduous climbing plant with twining stems that needs wires or trellis for support, ideal for growing against the side of a house or along a garden fence. Although Wisteria sinensis is very hardy and fast-growing , it is slow to get established and plants grown from seed may take several years to start flowering. The plants we supply are mature and capable of flowering. The plant itself has a high hardy rating of H6 making it perfect for the British climate. Just make sure to shelter in an extreme cold snap. The plant can be affected by potential pests and diseases so keep an eye out for this. Follow the guide on pruning wisteria for details on caring for your plant.
