Batman: Arkham VR is a detective adventure game with arcade elements, developed exclusively with virtual reality technology in mind. The game was developed by Rocksteady studio, i.e. the authors of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight. Story As the title suggests, the production is set in the comic universe of the DC publishing house, specifically in its version developed for the Batman: Arkham game series published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. Players take on the role of the title superhero, who undertakes to solve the case of mysterious murders and stop a conspiracy that threatens the closest allies of the Dark Knight. Gameplay In Batman: Arkham VR, we observe the events from the hero's eyes, and the whole game has been developed so that we can really feel like him. For example, the player must put on the costume himself before going on a night patrol. While having fun, we can visit, among others Wayne's estate, along with an underground cave that is Batman's base, but most of the action takes place in small stretches of Gotham City. Batman: Arkham VR emphasizes adventure elements. The game revolves mainly around detective challenges, in which we have to analyze locations in search of clues, collect evidence, interrogate witnesses and draw conclusions based on the collected information. Numerous technologically advanced gadgets help in carrying out these tasks, thanks to which the Dark Knight finds clues and analyzes evidence at the crime scene without having to move to the forensic laboratory.

Impoverishment and Asylum Social Policy as Slow Violence

Impoverishment and Asylum Social Policy as Slow Violence

Impoverishment and Asylum argues that a shift has taken place in recent decades towards construing asylum as primarily a political and/or humanitarian phenomenon to construing it as primarily an economic phenomenon and that this shift has had led to the purposeful impoverishment by the state of people seeking asylum in the UK. This shift has far-reaching consequences for people seeking asylum who have been systematically impoverished as part of the effort to strip out any possibility of an economic pull factor leading to more arrivals but also for those administering their support system and for civil society organisations and groups who seek to ameliorate the worst effects of the resulting asylum regimes. This book argues that within this context asylum support policies in the UK which are meant to help and protect in fact do serious harm to their recipients. It argues that the shift from construing asylum seekers as economically rather than politically motivated migrants across the West is part of a much broader set of historical and philosophical worldviews than has previously been articulated. The book offers a rigorously researched and richly theorised analysis drawing on postcolonial and decolonial perspectives in making sense of the purposeful impoverishment by the state of a particular group of people and why this continues to be tolerated in the fourth richest country in the world. | Impoverishment and Asylum Social Policy as Slow Violence
