Database Modeling Step by Step

Database Modeling Step by Step

With the aim of simplifying relational database modeling Database Modeling Step-by-Step presents the standard approach to database normalization and then adds its own approach which is a more simplistic intuitive way to building relational database models. Going from basics to contemporary topics the book opens with relational data modeling and ends with BigData database modeling following a road map of the evolution in relational modeling and including brief introductions to data warehousing and BigData modeling. A break-down of the elements of a model explains what makes up a relational data model. This is followed by a comparison between standard normalization and a more simplistic intuitive approach to data modeling that a beginner can follow and understand. A brief chapter explains how to use the database programming language SQL (Structured Query Language) which reads from and writes to a relational database. SQL is fundamental to data modeling because it helps in understanding how the model is used. In addition to the relational model the last three chapters cover important modern world topics including denormalization that leads into data warehouses and BigData database modeling. The book explains how there is not much to logical data modeling in BigData databases because as they are often schema-less which means that BigData databases do not have schemas embedded into the database itself they have no metadata and thus not much of a logical data model. Online bonus chapters include a case study that covers relational data modeling and are available at the author’s web site: www. oracletroubleshooter. com/datamodeling. html | Database Modeling Step by Step

Molecular Modeling Basics

Molecular Modeling Basics

Molecular modeling is becoming an increasingly important part of chemical research and education as computers become faster and programs become easier to use. The results however have not become easier to understand. Addressing the need for a workshop-oriented book Molecular Modeling Basics provides the fundamental theory needed to understand not only what molecular modeling programs do but also the gist of research papers that describe molecular modeling results. Written in a succinct manner using informal language the book presents concise coverage of key concepts suitable for novices to the field. It begins by examining the potential energy surface (PES) which provides the connection between experimental data and molecular modeling. It explores ways to calculate energy by molecular and quantum mechanics. It describes molecular properties and the condensed phase and shows how to extract and interpret information from a program output. The author uses hands-on exercises to illustrate concepts and he supplements the text with a blog containing animated tutorials and interactive figures. Drawn from the author‘s own lecture notes from a class he taught for many years at the University of Iowa this volume introduces topics in such a way that beginners can clearly comprehend molecular modeling results. A perfect supplement to a molecular modeling textbook the book offers students the hands-on practice they need to grasp sophisticated concepts. In addition to his blog the author maintains a website describing his research and one detailing his seminars.

Liquitex - Professional Acrylic Crackle Paste (237ml)

Liquitex - Professional Acrylic Crackle Paste (237ml)

Acrylic medium 237ml Pot Mix with acrylic paints or use on it's own Creates a stable crackling effect as it dries Dries to a hard, opaque finish Can be painted over once dry Does not affect archival quality of paint or surface Incredibly versatile & effective, this specially formulated medium is designed to enhance the creations of artists using Acrylic Colour (but most effective with the Liquitex range), whilst maintaining the quality & archival properties of both the paint & the surface. Designed as a medium for mixing with acrylic colours, it is equally as effective when used on it's own, drying to an opaque finish, that can then be painted over as needed. If left to dry naturally, this creates a "crackling" effect on any rigid surface, which can be painted over if necessary. What is a Medium? Any liquid which changes the consistency of the paint it is mixed with may be classed as a medium. Liquitex mediums are designed specifically for use with acrylic paints, and produce effects ranging from thin glaze to thick impasto, with a variety of choices in between. Why use a Medium? By changing the properties of paint, a medium extends the possibilities of how an artist works with the colour, and affords a plethora of exciting techniques and effects. Acrylic Mediums: Exploring The Possibilities gives further information on the Liquitex range of acrylic mediums, and how they can be used. Can you explain some of the terms used when painting with Acrylic Mediums? Click here for a glossary of Acrylic painting terms, including the different types of medium. Who are Liquitex? Founded in 1933 as "Permanent Pigments" in Cincinnati, Ohio by Henry Levison. Originally producing oil colour, they worked to develop the first water-based artist acrylic paints. Not only was their new formulation launched in 1955, but the company name became the much more recognisable "Liquitex" (an abbreviation of Liquid Texture) which Levison believed better captured the product's essence. Today, Liquitex offers a vast array of intermixable vibrant acrylic paints and mediums, enabling artists to continually explore new and innovative ways of working with Acrylic Colour.

Computational Modeling for Industrial-Organizational Psychologists

Computational Modeling for Industrial-Organizational Psychologists

This collection provides a primer to the process and promise of computational modeling for industrial-organizational psychologists. With contributions by global experts in the field the book is designed to expand readers’ appreciation for computational modeling via chapters focused on key modeling achievements in domains relevant to industrial-organizational psychology including decision making in organizations diversity and inclusion learning and training leadership and teams. To move the use of computational modeling forward the book includes specific how-to-chapters on two of the most commonly used modeling approaches: agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling. It also gives guidance on how to evaluate these models qualitatively and quantitatively and offers advice on how to read review and publish papers with computational models. The authors provide an extensive description of the myriad of values computational modeling can bring to the field highlighting how they offer a more transparent precise way to represent theories and can be simulated to offer a test of the internal consistency of a theory and allow for predictions. This is accompanied by an overview of the history of computational modeling as it relates to I-O psychology. Throughout the authors reflect on computational modeling’s journey looking back to its history as they imagine its future in I-O psychology. Each contribution demonstrates the value and opportunities computational modeling can provide the individual researcher research teams and fields of I-O psychology and management. This volume is an ideal resource for anyone interested in computational modeling from scholarly consumers to computational model creators.
