Utilizing the most advanced 5 step forging process available, the ST-2 irons feature a hollow 3 piece construction consisting of a thin, 2mm 1025C forged face and 1025C body with an internal tungsten weight positioned low and towards the toe for precise center of gravity locations throughout the set. The Maltby PTM Pearl Chrome forged irons are the perfect club for players that prefer carbon steel forged irons with a more traditional look at address, but needing the benefits of a Super Game Improvement design. The Progressive Tour Muscle (PTM) cavity is designed to place more weight in the toe of the long irons, increasing stability and forgiveness, and progressing back to a neutral weight distribution on the short irons, producing the trajectory and feel desired by better players. The progressive muscle has been strategically placed parallel to the ground line on all clubs but well under the center of the golf ball resulting in a low center gravity (.759”). Because of the low center of gravity the lofts of the PTM irons have strengthened vs. similar designs to produce a penetrating but relatively high ball flight to produce longer and soft landing approach shots. The DBM (Diamonized Black Metal) finish is a chemically implanted finish that is 2x more wear resistant, 3x more corrosion (rusting) resistant and 3x more scratch resistant than nickel chrome finishes. In addition to the added surface protection, the DMB finish is chemically implanted so there is no finish layer thickness added to the exterior finish as with nickel chrome finishes. Because the grooves are machined into forged iron heads prior to finishing, the DBM finish actually increases the productivity of the grooves vs. chrome finishes by eliminating this outer finish layer.
