Equipped with a LIDAR scanning and imaging device that allows us to see the outlines of objects plunged in darkness, we explore narrow and damp tunnels, caves bristling with stalactites, and the ruins of ancient cultist buildings.We get to know the plot based mainly on our own guesses and observations, but from time to time we also have the opportunity to read the protagonist's thoughts on both the studied cave labyrinth, the features of the scanner used, and the protagonist's private life. The disturbing errors and inaccuracies sometimes appear in the image displayed by the scanner being used provide additional information. Sometimes the device is in a strange way.Scanner Sombre is an exploration game with a first-person perspective, where the essence of the game is traversing the labyrinth of underground caves. As the surroundings are completely dark and the hero does not have any classic light source, the only way to observe the environment and at the same time the flagship mechanics of the game is the LIDAR scanning kit, consisting of a handheld scanner and a helmet with a display.Over time, the Player Imaging Kit gets new features. At first, we can only illuminate what is in front of us with a beam of medium-focus lasers. After some time, our handheld scanner receives the function of changing the focus of the beam - the diffused mode shows the entire space in front of the protagonist from the dark, but its precise drawing takes quite a long time. Focused mode, on the other hand, sends a thin beam that quickly and accurately draws a small fragment of space.Another interesting feature of the scanner is the "Burst" mode, which, after charging, emits several rows of rays to quickly draw a large piece of space. For orientation in the nooks and crannies of the underground labyrinth, the map mode is useful, showing all explored (scanned and drawn) tunnels as a 3D model.
