Spate is a steampunk platformer with an emphasis on exploring and solving puzzles. The main game designer was Eric Provan, a Hollywood artist who has worked on films such as Meatballs and Other Weather, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and The Amazing Spider-Man.The action of the game takes place in a steampunk world where advanced technology is based mainly on steam engines. We play the role of a private detective named Bluth, who is hired to find a businessman. A wanted man was last seen entering a forbidden area known as XZone. There used to be a lively town in this place, but ten years ago all its inhabitants disappeared without a trace. The plot of the game is based not only on this investigation. During our adventures, we will also learn the secrets of Bluth's past. During the campaign, we will spend most of our time exploring the forbidden zone, which is full of abstract buildings and mysterious creatures. The script combines an addictive detective story with a large dose of black humor.Spate is a 2.5D platformer. This means that the graphics are three-dimensional, but we are moving in two dimensions. The basic gameplay mechanics are typical of this genre, as the authors did not want players to tear out bizarre solutions from the story that in no way improve the game itself. We spend most of our time exploring locations, avoiding obstacles and traps. In all this, Bluth is helped by his equipment, which includes, among others a helmet with a flashlight and a jetpack to help you perform higher jumps. During our adventures, you can often come across sections where we have to solve puzzles. The logical elements consist primarily in the use of mechanisms and machines, including vehicles.What makes the biggest impression about Spate is the graphics and atmosphere.
