Viata lui Corneliu Gancevici a fost efervescenta si a lasat urme adanci in domeniul medical, pe care nu l-a parasit niciodata. In anumite perioade ale vietii, indiferent de opiniile politice, si-a facut datoria ca militar fata de tara si, in egala masura, nu si-a abandonat convingerile militante. Memorialistica sa din Razboiul de Intregire scrisa, totusi, la inceputul anilor '60, prezinta realitatea dura a razboiului, tusata si mai intunecat de convingerile revolutionare intime. Oameni corecti si oameni incorecti, eroi si sacrificii, escroci si combinatii veroase, toate au existat si s-au perpetuat. Prin ochii medicului, toate capata o alta dimensiune, in care finalul nu poate fi decat o societate egalitara. Visul i s-a implinit, desi nu stim daca realitatea postbelica a celui de-Al Doilea Razboi Mondial i-a implinit asteptarile. Oricum, la 25 de ani orice om are asteptari si este inclinat spre actiuni revolutionare. Poate tocmai de aceea amintirile sale de razboi, pline de oameni, fapte si intamplari, sunt atat de critice, dar extrem de incitante
