They have expanded on their original ten botanicals by adding two carefully selected additional botanicals. These are the Ambrette seed (which they source solely from Ecuador) and the gently dried and hand-picked bergamot orange peel (from Calabria in southern Italy). Slowing down the vapour infusion process, they ensure the integrity of the 12 botanicals. This means the distillation process takes longer, and ensures rich aromas and deeper flavours in the gin. The whole process ensures that Star Of Bombay is an exceptionally smooth gin, with a distinctly intenser flavour than the original Bombay Sapphire from the additional botanicals. Yet it still maintains its fresh and clean flavour and aroma. Bombay Sapphire East Gin Made using the same vapour inusion method as in the Bombay Sapphire Gin, the East edition uses 2 additional east inspired botanicals to make a total of 12. Bombay Sapphire's Master of Botanicals (Ivano Tonutti) has spent much of his time in the Far East sourcing exotic botanicals for distilling, and with the East edition, this is his personal homage to that area. To the classic blend of botanicals, Thai Lemongrass and Vietnamense black peppercorns are added.  These two additional botanicals, along with the original ten (Almond, Angelica, Cassia, Coriander, Cubeb Pepper, Grains of Paradise, Juniper, Lemon, Licorice, and Orris Root) come together during the vapour infusion creating a gin that truly stands apart. With the infusion of the exotic eastern flavours, a wonderfully tasteful gin comes with more than a little added spice and a generous hint of citrus. The nose has a strong citrus edge to it, along with a hit from the black pepper. Through this permeates juniper and exotic flowers. The addition of the black pepper comes through in the flavour, with a balanced warmth, along with rich and fresh citrus notes. As the drink warms in the mouth delicate spice from coriander, angelica and orris come through. The finish is a delicious fusion of citrus and pepper. Bombay Original London Dry Gin De geschiedenis achter het merk Bombay Sapphire gaat terug tot 1986 in Engeland, waar de gins in Warrington werden gedistilleerd. In 2014 verhuisde hun huis echter naar een speciale distilleerderij in Laverstock Mill in Hampshire. Ze distilleren hun gins met behulp van dampinfusie. Bij deze methode hangen de plantaardige ingrediënten boven de kokende alcohol, en de damp wordt doordrenkt met de smaken en aroma's van de plantaardige ingrediënten terwijl deze eroverheen gaat. Dit is een delicatere distillatiemethode en resulteert in een lichtere en meer bloemige smaak. Twee van hun vier stills (van de Carterhead-variant, genaamd Tom en Mary) dateren uit de jaren 1830. Terwijl hun Bombay Sapphire Gin, gevonden in de blauwe flessen) 10 verschillende plantaardige ingrediënten gebruikt, gebruikt hun Bombay London Dry Gin slechts 8 zorgvuldig geselecteerde plantaardige ingrediënten. Dit zijn jeneverbessen, zoethout, kassieboomschors, korianderzaad, engelwortel, citroenschil, iriswortel en amandelen. Hun recept is geïnspireerd op een origineel uit 1761. In de neus heeft dit een fris aroma, met grasachtige kruidige tonen, dennenachtige jeneverbes en hints van citroencitrus. Dit leidt tot een smaak die net zo fris is en vol klassieke, droge jeneverbessensmaken. Deze worden versterkt door een milde hint van citroen en meer kruidige tonen van koriander. Het eindigt fris en schoon en laat een aangename droogheid achter in de mond. Meer van Bombay Perfect Serve Hoewel dit goed werkt in cocktails, denken we dat dit als een echte originele klassieke droge gin de perfecte G&T is. Neem een groot/hoog glas en vul met ijs. Voeg 50 ml gin toe en giet er 150 - 200 ml van de door jou gekozen (neutrale) tonic over. Hoewel elke premium tonic goed zal werken, houden wij van East Imperial Tonic Water. Roer voorzichtig en garneer met een of twee schijfjes citroen.
