Coprosma 'Pacific night' (PBR) - 3 Litre Pot
Description
Coprosma ‘Pacific Night’, also known as the Mirror or looking glass plant, is a striking evergreen shrub loved for its rich, glossy foliage. Its narrow, polished leaves emerge deep green before developing dramatic shades of burgundy and deep purple, which intensify in the cooler months, adding depth and colour contrast to your garden throughout the year. The reflective, mirror-like leaves shimmer beautifully in the light, bringing a luxurious, high-impact effect to beds and borders. Coprosma ‘Pacific Night’ achieves a more dramatic and deeper colour than other lighter-toned cultivars, bringing rich burgundy and deep purple shades that truly stand out, especially in the cooler months. Compact and bushy, ‘Pacific Night’ typically grows to around 1.2–1.5m tall, making it a versatile choice for containers, mixed planting schemes, or as a standalone feature. Its dark foliage looks stunning paired with silver, such as Senecio 'Angels wings' or Euphorbia 'Silver swan' and pops of lime from shrubs such as Choisya Ternata 'Sundance'or Heuchera 'Lime marmalade', or gold-leaved plants, creating a striking bold display. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Coprosma ‘Pacific Night’ prefers a moist but well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered spot, as it can be tender in severe frost (Hardy down to -5c). Coprosma ‘Pacific Night’ is low-maintenance, needing little more than a light trim to keep its shape and is naturally tolerant of coastal conditions, making it ideal for seaside gardens. Coprosma ‘Pacific Night’ is one of our favourite shrubs for its dramatic, smouldering tones, blending deep burgundy, velvety crimson, and rich mulberry shades that bring breathtaking autumnal colour to the garden.
