Some of these plants can be placed straight into the water with a weight whereas some will need potting. Benefits: One of few submerged plants active in autumn and winter. Goldfish are partial to the young succulent leaves & many insects shelter in their tangled masses. In fast flowing water the leaves are held below the surface. They are able to tolerate waterlogged soil but should be planted no deeper than four inches below the water level.
