INDICATIONSSwollen limbs of the horse, or edema, usually occur near a joint (knee, fetlock or phalanx) or tendon (flexor tendon on the back surface of the limb) and are commonly due to an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the tissues. The normal turgidity of the tissues depends on a perfect balance between the local water inflow and outflow. In paraphysiological or pathological conditions (trauma), when this balance is disturbed, there may be stagnation of liquid in the tissue interstices with an increase in the total quantity of the liquid itself and then the swelling occurs.Ice-Tight performs its absorbing and transuding activity, compared to the liquids accumulated at the tissue level, thanks to the presence of substances such as Kaolin and Bentonite which cause the skin to expel these liquids while forming a protective layer that wraps and protects the whole limb from external agents.
