Cupressus Topiary Pom Pom Trees. Leyland Topiary For Sale UK

Cupressus Topiary Pom Pom Trees. Leyland Topiary For Sale UK

Leyland Cypress trees are incredibly fast growing and are often used for conifer topiary, particularly where distinct topiary structures are required. These Cupressus Topiary Trees are available as topiary spirals and as three ball shapes which we call Topiary Pom Pom. Now in stock, these Cupressus Leylandii Cypress Pom Pom Trees are beautifully shaped like cloud trees and are easy to maintain. They are ideal for pots or to plant into the ground and they look stunning in terracotta containers. The Cypress tree is an ancient evergreen conifer which comes in many varieties. Most cypress trees have an exceptionally long lifespan, living hundreds of years. These specimens are Cupressus Leylandii Aurea (or Golden Leyland Cypress). The new foliage emerges golden yellow and contrasts beautifully with the more mature dark green foliage adding to the drama of the pom pom topiary shape. The Pom Pom Topiary shape of these Leyland Cypress trees strongly evoke the look of Cloud Trees but without the more expensive price tag. Pom Pom topiary is generally formed over time from a shrub that is pruned into multi-stems (or several main stems), each with a ‘ball’ or ‘pom pom’ of foliage at the end. Pom-pom topiary has such distinctive and unique form that each plant should ideally be used as a stand-alone focal point in your design.Topiary is an ancient art and topiary plants come in many shapes and sizes available. Growing Tip: Pruning will be required. We advise to prune twice per annum, probably best at the start and the end of the summer. Wear gloves as the foliage can be sticky. Always keep you Leylandii well-watered.

Topiary Boxhead Hornbeam Trees. Cubed Hornbeam Trees Stilted

Topiary Boxhead Hornbeam Trees. Cubed Hornbeam Trees Stilted

Boxhead Hornbeam Trees on Clear StemThese cubed Boxhead Hornbeam Trees are an impressively architectural additional to any garden or landscape. This form of topiary hornbeam (Carpinus Betulus in Latin) is known by many names. You will hear it described as hornbeam hedges on stilts or stilted hedging. They are also known as cubed hornbeam trees or simply cube headed trees. Our topiary boxhead hornbeams are different from the general pleached hornbeam trees we sell because they have a cubed (or squared) crown. Pleached hornbeams or pleached trees in general have more of a flat or 2 dimensional crown. Pleaching is a form of growing trees in a line with the foliage forming a flat canopy. What makes these box head hornbeams different to our pleached hornbeams is they are more 3 dimensional. Cubed hornbeam trees can be used as a form of stilted hedging (above a wall or fence or indeed a hedge). They are also used to decoratively emphasize direction, marking out pathways or walkways or to airily enclose a garden room. Hornbeam (Carpinus Betulus) is native to Britain and is a deciduous hardwood tree that enjoys a long life. Hornbeam has attractive large leaves that are lime green in colour. In autumn, the hornbeam foliage turns a lively golden yellow before becoming brown. Although deciduous, Hornbeam is often used for hedging and / or screening as, similar to the beach tree, it retains its dead leaves on the branches until the new foliage emerges again each spring. It grows in most soil types from sandy to clay. In terms of aspect, it will grow in sun or shade. Hornbeam can be considered a hardy tree especially once established.

Topiary Yew Pom Pom Trees. Niwaki-Style Pom Pom Topiary Yew Trees for sale

Topiary Yew Pom Pom Trees. Niwaki-Style Pom Pom Topiary Yew Trees for sale

These are yew topiary trees where the foliage is shaped in pom poms in a Niwaki-style. This mature and established Pom Pom Yew is a work of art. A living sculpture that has taken many years (approx. 10 years) to establish and shape into its current, striking Japanese style form. These Topiary Yew Pom Poms are what is known as Niwaki trees. In Japan, Niwaki is the art of nurturing a garden tree or shrub to grow in a certain way or to conform to a certain shape in order to best showcase the natural features of the plant. The majestic Yew has many characteristics which make it suited to this kind of Japanese topiary. It is slow growing, evergreen with handsome foliage, hardy and reacts very well to clipping and trimming. Our Niwaki Pom Pom Yew Trees, while mature plants, are small in size - we refer to this as garden bonsai size. Now standing at circa 1.75 metres high, all the hard work has been done for you. To maintain and keep this wonderful living sculpture healthy and happy, with the minimal of maintenance, then simply plant directly into the ground. The soil needs to be well-draining and fertile. If you live with heavy clay, make sure to add lots of organic compost to the soil you dig out and back fill with this mixture. It is always a good idea with heavy soils to mulch once a year in order improve the soil naturally with the help of worms. These Pom Pom style topiary trees planted in the garden, carefully positioned, will lend a stylish accent or focal point wherever you plant them, even in those awkward spots. Whatever style of garden you have (it does not have to be Japanese), the addition of a living sculpture or Niwaki Garden Bonsai Tree will enhance your planting and create interesting structure.

Photinia Red Robin Compacta Topiary Standard Trees for Sale

Photinia Red Robin Compacta Topiary TreesPhotinia Red Robin Compacta  is a popular type of evergreen tree or shrub with its hallmark striking red new leaves. These specimens are topiary shaped trees on long clear stems for ornamental use. Most people know Photinia Red Robin for its bright red foliage and the Compacta versions are just as bright. It’s a smaller more compact variety than the photinia hedging shrub and less likely outgrow its welcome.  In early spring young foliage emerges bright red and gradually matures into green, eventually turning bronze-red by autumn. Small white flowers accompany the new shoots followed small berries. These are very popular with pollinators and birds. Photinia Red Robin Compacta makes excellent tree for topiary purposes. It responds well to clipping and holds its shape with a yearly or twice-yearly prune. We offer a range of Photinia Compacta Topiary shaped as standard trees including quarter standard, half standards and full standards. Standards are clear single-stemmed trees with a head of red robin foliage. Trunk size ranges from quarter standards at 80 cms to full standards at two metres depending on your choice. How Hardy Is Photinia Red Robin Compacta TopiaryThese Photinia Compacta Topiary trees are hardy in the UK and will survive frosts. They perform well in a mixed border where the red evergreen foliage brings colour, and they grow well in large well-watered containers on the patio.  Photinia Compacta Topiary is an unusual choice to frame a door or archway and an alternative to standard holly or roses. They can also be used to provide privacy screening above the fence level. How To Care For Photinia Red Robin Compacta TopiaryThis is a hardy and low maintenance plant that requires attention little once established. A twice-yearly trim will keep the topiary in shape. Plant Photinia Compacta Topiary in moist but well-drained soil of any pH in a sunny to partially sunny spot as sun encourages red shoots in spring.  Water well until established and do not let containers dry out. Apply a thick layer of mulch in spring to suppress weed competition and seal in moisture.

The shape is not dissimilar to our ever-popular Pleached Trees, except with pleached trees the canopy is vertical rather than horizontal and such more suited to above the fence-line screening. In forming the Parasol Trees, the leader branches have been carefully removed so that a lateral square-shaped crown can be formed by carefully training the stems over a bamboo frame and tying down the branches to create a flat, horizontal canopy of green. How to Use Topiary Parasol TreesIn addition to being extremely useful trees for creating shade without having to use a sun-umbrella, Parasol or Roof Shaped Trees will offer instant architectural interest and punctuation to gardens and terraces without taking up too much lateral space.Roof Form Trees are often placed strategically about the garden or landscape, punctuating paths and walkways and overlooking little seated areas.
