Description

Pleached Feijoa Tree or Pleached Guava Tree Feijoa Sellowiana, also known as Pineapple Guava or Acca Sellowiana, is an attractive evergreen tree that responds well to pruning and shaping. Its copper-coloured gnarled bark, paired with silvery-grey leaves, offers year-round interest. But this fruit tree is at its best in the summer when it produces very showy flowers. In June and July, Feijoa produces a profusion of fleshy deep pink and white blossoms that give way to edible red-flushed, green fruit. The fruits taste like minty pineapple, hence the common name Pineapple Guava. These Feijoa Trees are in Pleached form. The textured gnarled bark can be better appreciated on the clear trunk stem, and the crown is trained on a square bamboo frame over time. As the tree matures, its evergreen silvery foliage will grow into a cube-shaped crown. As a result, Pleached Guava makes a beautiful stilted hedge that will give you much-needed overhead privacy but also add texture and visual interest to the landscape. Height and Spread of Pleached Feijoa Tree Trained over time to achieve an elegant architectural form, our Pleached Guava trees are 3.1 metres high. The trunk of the tree measures 1.9 metres, whereas the crown is trained on bamboo frames that are 1.2 metres x 1.2 metres. How Hardy is Pleached Feijoa Tree Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the United Kingdom, Pleached Guava will do best in areas where winter temperatures do not drop below -5 degrees Celsius. How To Use Pleached Feijoa Tree Ornamental and relatively undemanding, Pleached Guava makes an excellent choice for stilted hedging in sun-facing parts of the garden. The raised crown will provide privacy at the above-head level, so it can be used on its own or in conjunction with a wall, whose edges it can soften or extend its height visually. Similarly, in large country gardens, Pleached Guava could be used to line pathways and walkways. How To Care For Pleached Feijoa Tree Native to Brazil and Uruguay, this fruit tree appreciates milder climates and sunnier spots in the garden. For best results, plant Pleached Guava in full sun and in a sheltered location. This tree is not picky when it comes to the soil: it will do well in almost any light, well-drained soil.
