Acer Pseudoplatanus Sycamore Tree Standard Shaped Sycamore Trees for Sale Online

Acer Pseudoplatanus Sycamore Tree Standard Shaped Sycamore Trees for Sale Online

Acer Pseudoplatanus, commonly known as the Sycamore tree, is a well-loved sight in the British countryside with its distinctive five pointed leaves. It is well known as a picturesque large tree and one of the best for exposed situations in any soil. Acer Pseudoplatanus is a large deciduous tree that is full of character and can reach over 25 metres within 20-50 years given optimum growing conditions, but it is most likely to reach 15 metres in height and 8 metres in spread when grown in gardens. In summer the palmate five lobed leaves, often hairy on the underside, can measure seven to 16cms across. Younger trees often have red-bronze shoots that turn green as the leaves open. In spring racemes of pale-green and yellow flowers appear, turning into autumnal samaras that spin to the ground. In summer a mature Sycamore casts a heavy shade that is perfect for children and animals to shelter beneath, then in winter the leaves fall in a cascade of pale yellow and green leaving a particularly picturesque framework. We offer a multi-stem sycamore meaning it casts an interesting winter shape that is perfect for gardens needing height and structure. How Hardy Is Acer PseudoplatanusAcer Pseudoplatanus is hardy throughout the UK and is one of the best to grow in exposed windy locations. It is often the first seed to establish itself on ploughed farmlands. How To Use Acer PseudoplatanusThis majestic tree is well loved and instantly recognisable, so it makes a perfect specimen tree in medium to large gardens where summer shade is needed. Children love the helicopter seeds and smooth grey bark that breaks and peels to reveal pinker shades beneath. You can grow woodland flowers in its shade such as hellebore and bluebell as well as shade loving ferns. Expect to spot nesting birds in its thick foliage. A multi-stem sycamore tree can be confused with Norway Maples which have similar leaves, but the latter Acer Platanoides have deeper toned autumnal foliage. The Sycamore is paler in comparison, and more reminiscent of the English countryside. How To Care For Acer PseudoplatanusAcer pseudoplatanus is entirely self-sufficient once established and tolerant of any soil conditions.  Your multi-stem sycamore will arrive root-balled ready for immediate planting, and in the first few years it will require regular watering in dry spells. A thick layer of well-rotted mulch around the base will enable it to develop strong roots. If you want a piece of the English countryside in your garden and you have the space, this virtually indestructible beauty is the perfect low maintenance choice.

Rose Snow Princess. Rose Climbing Snow Princess for Sale UK

Rose Snow Princess. Rose Climbing Snow Princess for Sale UK

Rose Snow Princess is a floribunda climbing rose that’s smothered with bright white flowers from early summer to late autumn. It flowers freely and copiously unlike some roses that tend to offer one single blooming and require coaxing to produce a second flush. This makes it perfect for smaller gardens and balconies or for gardeners with restricted movement. Flowers appear in June with semi-double cup-shaped blooms that have bright white dazzling petals. They are lightly fragrant with a traditional rose scent, but they’re not overpowering. How Hardy Is Rose Climbing Snow Princess?Rose Snow Princess is hardy in all areas of the UK. Its flowers are particularly valued by rose enthusiasts because they don’t spoil in rain, and they tend to stay on the flower head during windier conditions. How To Use Rose Snow PrincessFloribunda roses have many heads of flowers that bloom in groups at the end of each stem. This means they flower thickly, providing cover for unattractive areas.Rose Snow Princess is perfect for a sunny or semi-shaded wall or mid-height fence, such as a front garden fence. It offers protection against unwanted cats but attracts pollinators such as bees and ladybirds. If you don’t have a suitable wall or fence Snow Princess will grow happily up an obelisk in the middle of a larger flower border or in a container. Rosa Snow Princess is relatively compact so it fares well in containers if you keep them watered and fed. They are the perfect size for a balcony or patio. Rosa Snow Princess’s pure white flowers won’t clash with other shades, so try combining her with any colour clematis or a passion flower for a striking summer display. How To Care For Rose Snow PrincessLike all roses, Snow Princess will flower best when mulched with well-rotted manure. If you do this in early spring it will boast bloom production and the overall health of your plant. Prune Snow Princess in autumn or early spring before new growth has started to form. Cut back around a third of the old growth to stimulate fresh, healthy new stems. Roses flower on the new year’s growth so don’t worry about ruining display, Snow Princess responds well to pruning. Cut out any dead wood or crossing stems too as this allows light and air to circulate.Rose Climbing Snow Princess is perfect for that tricky mid-height level. It’s tough, thrives in a container, flowers all summer long and requires little care. You won’t be disappointed with a glorious pure white Snow Princess.

Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe Dwarf London Plane Tree

Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe Dwarf London Plane Tree

Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe or Dwarf London Plane TreePlatanus Hispanica Alphens Globe, also known as the London Plane Alphens Globe or Dwarf London Plane, has all of the most desirable qualities of its parent plant, the London Plane Tree, with the additional benefit of its dwarf size, making it the perfect addition to gardens large or small! The original London Plane Tree is a cross between the Oriental Plane Tree and American Sycamore. Left to its own devices, over time it grows to an enormous size, and is notable for its attractive, mottled bark in shades of grey, olive, and cream. However, its large size makes it an impractical choice for most city gardens, and so the Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe is a welcome newcomer! The large, 20 cm wide 5-lobed green leaves of the London Plane Alphens Globe emerge later in the spring, followed by small yellow-green flowers that are not noticeable, but produce clusters of small, burr-like fruits which remain on the tree through the winter. Fully hardy throughout the UK, this grafted dwarf variety grows to a mature height of 5 metres and spread of 3 metres, making it an excellent choice for even small city gardens. Pruning is not necessary to maintain the natural rounded shape of the crown of the Dwarf London Plane, but if required it is best to prune in late winter. Plant Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe in full sun in any soil. It will do well in a variety of conditions, most notably being very tolerant of pollution, and therefore is an excellent choice of tree for small city gardens. It also tolerates salt, and is resistant to wind, making it perfect tree for coastal regions as well. It does well planted in paving or containers, increasing still further its landscaping versatility.Let the small scale of the London Plane Alphens Globe inspire you to use it in places where its sprawling parent would never fit! It is well-suited to container planting on rooftop terraces or courtyards, providing not only the beauty of its rounded crown of foliage in spring, summer, and autumn, but the appeal of its attractive mottled bark and small fruits in winter. This is easily included in a patio or gravel garden, or as a specimen plant in a small lawn. It also makes an excellent street-side tree, planted in a row along a sidewalk. If you have loved the look of the London Plane Tree but been unable to accommodate its size in your garden, Platanus Hispanica Alphens Globe is the perfect choice for you!

Escallonia Iveyi. White Flowering Escallonia for sale UK. Escellonia Hedging

Escallonia Iveyi or White Flowering Escallonia is an upright evergreen variety of Escallonia with white fragrant flowers. It’s a great hedging choice that’s been given the RHS Award of Garden Merit and the Perfect for Pollinators title. Escallonia Iveyi produces large dark green glossy leaves that grow thickly. In July through to September, sometimes earlier or later if the weather is mild, Escallonia is smothered in bright pure white flowers that attract all essential garden pollinators. The blooms are bell-shaped, abundant and produce a glorious sweet scent. Escallonia plants are perfect hedging shrubs, but only Escallonia Iveyi boasts clusters of pure white flowers throughout the summer. During winter the evergreen leaves can develop an attractive bronze tint. Escallonia Iveyi is a fast-growing hedging shrub best suited for larger areas as is it will reach three by three metres if left unchecked. Escallonia Iveyi is hardy across the UK and whilst it will need some pruning to control side shoots, it is very easy to care for tolerating dry spots, all soils and coastal areas once established. Escallonia Iveyi is ideal for wildlife-friendly hedging. It produces a tight, thickly leaved hedge within a few years. It also provides structure at the back of a border. It is an excellent flowering evergreen for windy coastal areas. Due to its thick habit Escallonia Iveyi can also be grown as a privacy screen or as a wind or noise protection barrier. If you find your tender perennials or vegetables suffer wind damage, try placing a few Escallonia Iveyi against prevailing winds. This technique also shelters and fragrances an outside seating area. It’s possible to mask sheds and other unsightly areas with a few well positioned Escallonia too. Plant individual specimens a foot or more apart for a rapidly growing screen. You can also grow Escallonia Iveyias as a specimen plant, pruning it back each year to maintain the desired shape. Escallonia Iveyi prefers a sunny site with fertile, well-drained soil but it will grow in virtually all soils and areas. Young plants will need mulching, watering and protection from severe frosts in their first year  until firmly established. Before planting your Escallonia Iveyi, soak the roots in a bucket of water overnight. Then, dig a hole twice the size of the rootball and line it with a well rotted mulch. Stake the leader stem if the area is particular gusty. Deadheading blooms can prolong the flowering season, but it is not necessary. Cut back any unnecessary shoots in spring to maintain a good shape. Escallonia Iveyi is the perfect hedging plant and practical solution for problem areas. The fragrant flowers provide food for pollinators and the thick bush creates habitats for nesting birds. If you are looking for a vigorous privacy screen or a noise and wind barrier you will find it hard to better an Escallonia.

Betula Pendula Fastigiata Joes Silver Birch Fastigiata Joes

Betula Pendula Fastigiata Joes Silver Birch Fastigiata Joes

Betula Pendula Fastigiata Joes, more commonly called Silver Birch Fastigiata Joes, is a stiffly upright silver birch variety with the white bark we all love, but with a tall and narrow shape perfect for small gardens. It was shortlisted for Plant of the Year at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show. This Dutch cultivar is Synonymous with Betula pendula Jolep1 or Fastigiated Birch. In spring this deciduous birch sprouts small green serrated leaves that quickly form a dense upright column of fluttering foliage from tip to toe. In summer foliage darkens to a deep green, and small catkins appear that hold on until winter. In late autumn leaves turn a buttery yellow and orange before they eventually fall with the frost and winds – although this happens later than other varieties of birch.Usually a tree losing its foliage creates a bare sight, but silver birch trees come into their own during the winter months when their white bark is showed to its full extent. Its twisting branches spiral skyward to give plenty of winter interest. Fastigiata develops silvery white bark with fissures as the specimen ages. It’s not as bright as other varieties such as Betula Nigra Summer Cascade, but it is enough to glow in the winter sun and brighten a garden.Height and Spread of Betula Pendula Fastigiata JoesSilver Birch Fastigiata Joes will grow to a maximum of 7-12 metres and spread half a metre to a metre across. Its keeps a columnar silhouette with one of the narrowest growth habits around. How Hardy Is Betula Pendula Fastigiata JoesSilver birch trees are completely hardy in the UK and Silver Birch Fastigiata Joes is no exception. It will tolerate rain, wind, snow and temporary flooding in sub zero winters once established. How To Use Betula Pendula Fastigiata JoesThis is the perfect tree for small gardens as it lends interest all year round, but takes up little width. Use it as a specimen tree in a border or lawn, or position one to block a neighbour’s view. A row of Silver Birch Fastigiata Joes makes the perfect summer wind break and privacy screen. Larger gardens can use this narrow tree to mark pathways, statues or pagodas.Family friendly gardens benefit from silver birch trees because children love to peel the bark and touch the fissured wood. Its bright white winter colouring brings a good deal of light into your garden especially if it’s planted against a dark fence line. How To Care For Betula Pendula Fastigiata JoesSilver Birch Fastigiata Joes needs little maintenance once established. It will thrive in moist, well drained soils, but will do well in almost all garden situations. It does not need a particular soil or Ph, but if you have a damp garden this is a good choice. A sunny to partially shady spot will be appreciated, and you should water and mulch young trees until they are established. No pruning is necessary. If you have a small garden and want the beauty of a white, twisted silver birch this is a top choice. Magnolia Sentinel Pink Flowering Magolia Hybrid for Sale

Magnolia Sentinel Pink Flowering Magolia Hybrid for Sale

Magnolia Sentinel is a deciduous spring-blooming magnolia with long-lasting pale pink flowers. It’s an upright variety and a perfect specimen tree for borders or compact gardens.Magnolia are ancient plants found in fossil records across the world, but now they are only native to South America and the Far East. They were named after French botanist Pierre Magnol in the early 1700s when they found their way to Europe with the plant hunters.Magnolia Sentinel was bred to have a longer flowering season than other magnolias and for its upright columnar habit. Its goblet-shaped long-lasting blooms appear on bare branches in early spring. The buds are an attractive deep pink, before opening to pretty pale pink and there’s often a second flowering in summer. Attractive dark green glossy foliage emerges after the blooms and falls when the frosts arrive.Magnolia Sentinel is an excellent choice if your outdoor space is compact and you need an upright shrub or tree with long-lasting spring flowers.Height And Spread of Magnolia SentinelMagnolia Sentinel reaches a maximum height of 10 metres over 10 years. How Hardy Is Magnolia SentinelThis is a winter hardy magnolia that can withstand minus temperatures in well-drained soil, but it needs shelter from harsh, cold winds and shouldn’t be planted in a frost pocket. How To Use Magnolia SentinelBecause Magnolia Sentinel has a longer flowering period than many other varieties of magnolia it’s a top choice of specimen tree in a sheltered, sunny spot.Magnolia suit both country cottage style gardens with their pretty flowers but also urban courtyards with their structural shapes and goblet style flowers.Sentinel is perfect for woodland borders, sheltered front gardens, and Japanese style spaces. How To Care For Magnolia SentinelMagnolia Sentinel prefers a sunny, sheltered spot that’s protected from harsh wind and lingering frost that damages the buds and prevents the anticipated flower show.It does best in neutral to slightly acidic soil but will manage in alkaline conditions too. If your garden is very chalky, fill the planting hole with ericaceous compost and top it up with a yearly acidic mulch of pine or bracken-based compost.Pruning isn’t needed because magnolia tends to grow in a naturally open goblet shape, but if necessary you can prune back any dead or crossed branches in midsummer after the flowering has finished.

Acer Palmatum Pixie Japanese Maple Dwarf Japanese Maple

Acer Palmatum Pixie Japanese MapleAcer Palmatum Pixie is a deciduous dwarf acer with blood-red leaves. It’s perfect for compact gardens in need of a colour boost.  This little acer is the dwarf version of the well-known bright red Acer palmatum bloodgood, but as it is compact it will only reach 1/3 of its size and doesn’t outgrow it’s welcome. This particularly bright and attractive small acer sprouts bright red lobed foliage in spring which gradually deepens to a richer red in summer before maturing into strong scarlet red for autumn. Small inconspicuous green flowers arrive in spring that gradually mature into winged red fruits known as samaras.Acer Palmatun Pixie’s trunk is almost black with stripes appearing as it slowly matures. This is a great little acer for compact gardens with striking red colours and interesting textures. Height and Spread of Acer Palmatum PixieAcer Palmatum Pixie grows upright but gets no taller than around 2.5 metres and 1 metre wide. Its better known as Dwarf Japanese Maple or Pixie Japanese Maple due to its compact nature. How Hardy Is Acer Palmatum PixieDwarf Japanese Maple is hardy down to sub-zero temperatures but it does need shelter from strong, cold winds which can cause leaf scorch.Once established it is drought and heat tolerant and relatively pest-free.How To Use Acer Palmatum PixiePixie Japanese Maple is the perfect specimen tree for a compact urban garden that needs a boost of rich colour.A row along the fence line blocks out neighbours in the summer months without shading out the whole garden. In larger spaces Dwarf Japanese Maple makes an unusual lining for a footpath or a colourful way to mark out a seating area. This small acer will grow well in a container as long as it is well watered and fed regularly. When it’s grown in a pot, Dwarf Japanese Maple will stay smaller than garden planted specimens. How To Care For Acer Palmatum PixieAcer Palmatum Pixie needs well-drained moist soil in a sheltered position that’s protected from the prevailing wind to really thrive. It can handle the heat, unlike other more delicate acers, and full afternoon sun brings out the redness of its foliage, however strong early morning sunshine may scorch its leaves.Acers tend to prefer neutral to acid soils and struggle in chalky areas. If your garden is chalky consider growing Japanese Maple Pixie in a container with ericaceous soil. This compact maple tree doesn’t need any pruning as it naturally holds a well-formed shape but you can cut back any unruly branches in winter.
